From November 4 to 15, 2024, 9 districts, towns and cities simultaneously launched a campaign to supplement the reduced dose tetanus-diphtheria vaccine (Td). The age of Td vaccination is for 7-year-old children who do not attend school in the community and children studying in grade 2 in the 2024-2025 school year in schools in the province. The Td vaccination campaign is deployed in the community and at schools throughout the province.
The Phu Yen Provincial Center for Disease Control has also allocated nearly 13,000 doses of Td vaccine to district health centers, enough to vaccinate about 13,000 children in the province who are of age to be vaccinated with Td vaccine. To ensure the target of over 90% of children of age to be vaccinated with Td vaccine, as well as to ensure safety in vaccination, the Phu Yen Department of Health has also directed the Center for Disease Control and the Health Centers of districts, towns and cities to prioritize Td vaccination for children in communes with low regular vaccination rates and risk of epidemics such as remote, isolated areas... For cases of delayed vaccination, there must be a plan to vaccinate on the regular vaccination day of the month. The Provincial Center for Disease Control is requested to monitor the progress of Td vaccination activities in districts, towns and cities. District, town and city health centers inspect and monitor vaccination sites, establish mobile emergency teams and direct commune health stations to screen groups of 7-year-old children who are not attending school in the locality and also children who are passing by to ensure that no children of the age group eligible for Td vaccination are left behind.
The Td vaccination campaign takes place once a year, providing free vaccinations to 7-year-old children to help them become immune and prevent diphtheria and tetanus.
